Stay At Home Mom

After my Engineering degree I went for Masters in Project Managment just to become SAHM? .

Being a SAHM I have a full time job. I am running two important projects one project is my husband ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‰. Other most important project is raising a son which means creating great man for the future. .

Believe me it does involve cost, time, schedule, quality, communications, scope management in doing grocery shopping, food plan of the baby & last but not the least as we are expats, this moving from one country to another after every 2 years or so involves all the knowledge areas of Project Manangement ๐Ÿ˜‚. .

As Faryal Makhdoom said you are the CEO of your home, it’s true you are really the CEO of your entire empire called ‘HOME”. .

So Mommas! Never be guilty that you are SAHM after getting so many degrees, you are doing a great job, you are bringing up amazing human beings who will be responsible citizens of the future. #NOguilt.

So after posting the above blog on my instagram, I was bombarded with some comments & DMs that you should have done a simple degree instead of wasting your parents money on your engineering degree & occupying a seat which was just a waste of time as you are not doing job & ended up being a SAHM.โฃ
โฃ
๐˜‹๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ค๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ: I have huge respect for working moms as I can imagine things are not easier for them.

First of all in my opinion which may differ from others that when an 18 years old girl is choosing her career and follow her dream to become Engineer, Doctor, Pilot, Economist or whatever she wants to become, at that time she does not know what will come in the future, she makes her career, gets married and then if she decides to stay at home temperorary or permanently according to the circumstances, that does not mean her education was a waste of time. She has contributed enough to her career and contributing to the society as she is raising the men & women of the future.โฃ
.
.
.
.

So let me tell you all SAHMs, do not get disappointed if someone tells you that your degree got wasted, you are doing a wonderful job, you are raising responsible citizens of the future. Your degree and time will be wasted if your kids are not happy kids. For your kids you are the school and the world, teach them whatever you know and show the world with open heart.โฃ
.
.
So Ladies, better to lift each other instead of making someone guilty as you do not know the circumstances of the other person. You never know why she choses to be SAHM, may be because she has no one to take care of kids while she is at work, it can be her priorities changed, it can be she cannot balance work and home together, sometimes husband & in laws issues, it can be due to health issues and the list go on. So better not to judge any SAHM.โฃ If you cannot give happiness to someone do not take their peace of mind at least.

Phone Tips when Relocating Abroad |Expats

Being an expat is exciting, but it comes with lots of sacrifices. One of them is you are away from your loved ones in your home country. I have relocated to two countries since I got married to an Expat. When I first moved I thought if we move after every two or three years, how many numbers, I will have to change and every time I will have to send my new number to my family/ friends. I would lose so many contacts & its such a hassle to send a message to your contact list about change in number. Following is the tips that I figured out and sharing with you:

Keep your Permanent Whatsapp Number:

Before moving from my home country, I decided that I will keep my whatsapp number permanent as nowadays most of the conversation is through whatsapp. So when we moved to UAE, I bought the UAE sim but did not put that number on whatsapp and on my whatsapp it was my home country number, so I did not have to do any efforts to inform everyone of my phone number. And whenever I visit my home country I use that sim for normal calls and cellular network.

But there was one problem in having different whatsapp number and mobile number. One was the friends I started to make in UAE, I had to separately give them my whatsapp number. The other major problem was when I had to buy or sell something, I had to give people my whatsapp number for sending location. But that problem is also solved which I found a way later on.

Dual Whatsapp Number:

If you have a Samsung Mobile Phone, then Yes! You can have dual whatsapp in your one mobile phone. There is a setting in your mobile which you need to change and you can have dual whatsapp. So in one whatsapp I kept my permenant mobile number and the dual I kept for every move which will keep changing.

Following is the pictorial description of how to have dual whtasapp in your Samsung mobile phone.

Hope that helps and when I moved to Austria, I gave my permanent whatsapp number to my UAE friends to stay in touch.

5 Brilliant Baby Items That Make Momโ€™s Life Easier

Leave a comment Standard

Motherhood is difficult but there are some genius baby items to make motherhood easy. Although there are many items which made my life easy but I have shortlisted my top favourite items. Check out these items that will make your life much easier.

  • 1. MilkyMate Deluxe
  • This baby item is my top most favourite item, I do not know what I would have done without it. Being a first time mom I also had to go through postpartum depression & then on top my baby refused to take breastfeed. I had sleepless nights, sometimes even controlling the pee or poop because mommy has to hold the bottle and she is not allowed to go to toilet. Then from one lady who had triplets I came to know about this game changer Milkymate deluxe. Oh my God, it is so convenient, although it is more useful for twins or triplets moms but for me it did wonder, I could work around when the baby is drinking milk with the help of milkymate but of course I am keeping eye on him to not choke. It is made of 100 % organic cotton and suitable for baby’s skin.

  • 2. Totseat
  • Totseat is kind of travelling high chair which is very convenient for travelling and going around with in a city. I always keep it in the stroller basket. Whenever we stop at some cafe & they do not have high chair so I easily turn normal chair into high chair with the help of totseat. Thanks to the genius totseat producer.

  • 3. Mamas and Papas Snug Seat with Activity Tray
  • Mamas and papas snug seat is designed for babies to help them sit on their own. It really helped my baby to sit and activity tray keeps him busy while I am cooking especially the colors attract him. It actually gives extra hand to mom’s busy life. I started to use it when my baby was 4 months old & it really taught him to sit. I absolutely recommend this to mommas.

  • 4. Ingenuity Bouncer
  • If you ask my baby, his favourite item is Ingenuity Bouncer. Seems like it has some magic in it as whenever my baby was crying and I was putting him inside the bouncer, he immediately stopped crying. I think it is designed in a way that it soothes baby.

  • 5. Sleep sack
  • Being a first time mom, I did not know about many of the baby items. One night my baby started to cry and when I saw him, he was all covered with blanket, I panicked as I could not find his face, his face was all red, seems like he was suffocating. The next day I started to search for blanket alternatives & got familiar with sleep sacks.Since then I have been using sleeping sacks for my baby which is a life saver.

    Expat life in Islamabad, Pakistan’

    Comments 2 Standard

They say you cry two times when you go to Pakistan, first when you hear you are being posted to Pakistan & the second when your posting is over & you have to leave Pakistan. Ok! So let me explain the former part ” you cry when you hear you are being posted to Pakistan”.

As Pakistan is among the third world countries so all you can think about is the bumpy roads, unhygienic food, malaria, terrorism ( what you hear from media) and the list goes on. One the contrary roads are good enough, the environment is clean rather you enjoy all the four seasons and Islamabad is quite safe especially for expats. In general, houses are bigger in Pakistan if you compare with Europe. Expats get the accommodation in one of the nicest areas in Islamabad, the villas they are so huge & nice that you would never feel like leaving them.

View of Islamabad city from Monal Restaurant Margalla hills

I was being lucky enough getting married to an expat & enjoyed the privilege of being an expat in my own country. Islamabad is so beautiful & surrounded by Margalla hills. There are a variety of food options in Islamabad but you have to get used to a bit spicy food. My husband never had food poisoning living there for almost 3 years but according to him, he has a bulletproof stomach hahaha! Yes, mangoes are the best in Pakistan & you cannot resist yourself from overeating.

Almost every evening we enjoyed having receptions from different countries national days and other social events like an art gallery opening, National days, carnival, Oktoberfest and etc, so this is a cost cutting if you are expat in Pakistan, you never have to cook dinner hahaha! There is a small community of expats in Islamabad from different countries and you get to know about a different culture and meet people around the world. I met people from Guyana, Cameroon, Senegal in Islamabad and to be honest I never knew about these countries if they existed. There is a forum for international community i.e.Jenny’s list for upcoming events, buy & sell, etc. There are international schools. Hospitals are good, many of the expat’s wives deliver their babies here instead of going back alone to their country only for delivery. For expats, Pakistan is a heaven of fabrics, carpets & handicrafts. Expats enjoy playing golf & polo in Islamabad as its quite cheap there comparing with other countries.

Recently one of my friend in Abu Dhabi asked me that how did you meet your husband in Pakistan? I thought there are no foreigners in Pakistan. Of course, there are a lot of foreigners in Islamabad from UN, International NGOs, Multinational companies & diplomats from the embassies.

    EU day celebration in Islamabad

There are so many places to visit in Pakistan, the beautiful mountains of northern areas, historical places in Lahore and Taxila, salt mines in Khewra, the beach in Karachi and the list go on.

Islamabad itself has so much to offer like we used to go for hiking and cycling, walk with a beautiful view of margalla hills and greenery around. Our house was quite near to margalla hills so every day we were receiving guests in our garden, guess who?? The Monkeys!!! Oh my god, that is so exciting to have monkeys in your own garden.

    Monkeys in our garden

People of Pakistan are so hospitable, I am not saying this because I am Pakistani, this is what most of the foreigners say including my husband. My husband loved Pakistan so much that he permanently took a piece of it hahaha! This is what he says and I am flattered.

There is a foreign women association for international ladies in Islamabad who are doing coffee mornings every month. Each country’s embassy or lady is organizing coffee morning offering their local food, culture and many more activities for the housewives of expats. From these activities, the ladies get to socialize with each other.

Expats just love playing Golf here as it is quite affordable as compared to other countries.

Foreigners are being treated as VIPs and local people just adore & respect them, they would like to take a picture with them which gives the feeling of being a celebrity.

Now comes the later part ” you cry when you have to leave this country” after enjoying all the above-mentioned blessings one would never feel like leaving this country. Most of the expats/diplomats say that they can never receive such love, privilege & respect in any other country like in Pakistan. I saw them trying hard to prolong their posting in Pakistan, so here comes the part when you have to bid farewell to the nice people and wonderful country with a heavy heart.

I challenge you to come to Pakistan & enjoy its hospitality. Once you stay in Pakistan all you can think about its beauty and hospitality, not of terrorism. Hopefully, after reading this you will cry only once.

So The Future Expats, Have a great stay in Pakistan. Come and spoil yourself.

I am Pakistani but my heart is Romanian….

    Comments 2 Standard

After I completed my studies, my parents started looking for a suitable guy to marry me. The struggle was quite real as its hard to find good people nowadays. My father is a very liberal and untraditonal pakistani man. He has always believed in his daughters & never care for what people says.

Two years back, I met Razvan ( a Romanian guy, A Gora yes!!!) in a social gathering who came on a posting in a multinational company at Islamabad. We were friends for about one year and one day he proposed me yayyyy!!! I was very happy as I knew that I will always be happy with this man. The only thing which was worrying us was the cultural & so many differences between us. His parents were so happy to know about me but I did not know how my family and relatives will react.

Anyhow with great courage I told my dad about him, he met him and liked him a lot but my mother reacted that why didnโ€™t you tell me first ( hahaha a typical mom thing ). My mom was so worried that how our realtives will react but my father said as long as my daughter is happy I do not care for the people.

My in laws came from Romania to Pakistan and we had a pakistani wedding, Barat & Valima. Alhamdullilah I am so grateful to have such supportive parents.

I truely believe that marriages are made in heaven. I could never think that my life partner will come all the way from Romania to marry me. We have always heard of killing of women at the name of honour or fathers giving no choice to their daughters in selecting their life partner in Pakistan but all Pakistani men are not the same. My father who is so much Pakistani and Muslim gave full right to his daughter to select her life partner as our religion give this right to women as well and I am really proud of him and has not disappointed him.

So this how a Pakistani lady got married to a Romanian man.

Do remember us in your prayers.

    Barat

    Valima
